This is accomplished by ensuring that all components are manufactured to very close tolerances\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For my long-time readers, that promise <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetruthaboutguns.com\/gun-review-cabot-guns-black-diamond-update\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">sounds familiar<\/a>, and foreboding. Whenever I hear \u201caerospace industry\u201d and \u201cvery close tolerances\u201d from a 1911 manufacturer, I prepare myself to be disappointed.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/vudoogunworks.com\/mobius-1911\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mobius<\/a> did not disappoint.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/vudoogunworks.com\/mobius-1911\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Vudoo\u00a0Gun Works Mobius<\/a> single stack 1911 reminded me of why I love a full-frame 1911 so much in the first place. After all, this is the same company that made the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetruthaboutguns.com\/gun-review-vudoo-gun-works-sinister-in-22lr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">best rimfire bolt gun<\/a> I\u2019ve ever had the pleasure to fire.<\/p>\n<p>The Vudoo rimfire action is genius and Vudoo brought that same level of ingenuity to the 1911. This allows them to use shorter, fatter, more stable tools to mill out the frame and rails, and get extremely consistent surfaces during the original cut. At SHOT Show, I told their rep what I wanted a T&amp;E gun\u2026optic cut only, no sights. Black frame and slide. Single-sided safety. Slight extended and flared mag well. I left everything else to them. I wasn\u2019t terribly picky since the gun was going back to them anyway.<\/p>\n<p>Two weeks later I got an email asking me for my FFL information. Seriously, I had only just recovered from SHOT Show, but a couple days later the gun I asked for was at my door.<\/p>\n<p>For most of my custom guns, including 1911s, I figure a year is a reasonable wait time.\u00a0 Some big shops can get it done in much less time, but even so, six months is pretty good. Two weeks? They may offer others, but they only advertise these three, and other finishes may extend the delivery time and cost.<\/p>\n<p>Their black nitride finish is excellent. This can be a hard finish to do well, as any imperfections really stand out. This is certainly my preferred design and it\u2019s already what I\u2019ve had done on my own custom 1911s.<\/p>\n<p>The serrated top, along with the cut itself, makes the sights come right to the eye and appear to kind of \u201cfloat\u201d in the air above your hands. It makes for not just a great-looking gun, but a functional piece of design for fast sight acquisition on the draw as well as follow-up shots.<\/p>\n<p>As much as I like the geometry of the slide, I\u2019m not sold on the flats. With the diagonal cuts fore and aft, as well a the logo near the muzzle and obligatory lettering, the addition of the fine horizontal lines across the entire face makes the slide a bit busy. I wanted to try a smooth front with an optic cut while I was trying out a few different optics.<\/p>\n<p>In this case, I asked Vudoo for an <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/420JCU1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">RMR cut<\/a>, and used an RMR as well as an adapter plate from Shield to run a series of <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3Fcpg0j\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">RMSc footprint<\/a> optics for reviews. The RMR fit snug and tight, as it should, as did the plate. It blends into the shape of the grip and serves to perfectly funnel a magazine into the gun. Vudoo includes two <a href=\"https:\/\/www.avantlink.com\/click.php?tt=cl&amp;merchant_id=c57f7b35-5796-4cf2-9f7e-d6ef5a436261&amp;website_id=4e8a62e5-c9f2-4169-947d-06856fc118da&amp;url=https%3A%2F%2Fgunmagwarehouse.com%2Fcatalogsearch%2Fresult%2F%3Fq%3Dwilson%2520combat%25201911%2520magazine\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wilson Combat magazines<\/a> with the pistol in its plastic hard case. The supplied magazines have the standard WC base pad, but if you\u2019re going to have a mag well on the gun, the EDM base pad would be a better option, just in case you needed to forcibly strip the magazine from the gun.<\/p>\n<p>One of the few things Vudoo doesn\u2019t make on these guns are the grip panels themselves. For that, they\u00a0look to <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3FbPZtQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">VZ Grips<\/a> and add a custom Vudoo Gun Works medallion.<\/p>\n<p>The trigger breaks crisply and cleanly, and the pulls from my <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3yxxRqB\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lyman Trigger Scale<\/a> all recorded 3lbs 4oz. I ran weights from 185-230grains. I ran hollow points, flat points, FMJs and a few home molded SWCs as well. Not one single problem. Zero failures to feed or fire.<\/p>\n<p>No magazine (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.avantlink.com\/click.php?tt=cl&amp;merchant_id=c57f7b35-5796-4cf2-9f7e-d6ef5a436261&amp;website_id=4e8a62e5-c9f2-4169-947d-06856fc118da&amp;url=https%3A%2F%2Fgunmagwarehouse.com%2Fcatalogsearch%2Fresult%2F%3Fq%3D1911\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wilson, Colt, and Chip McCormack<\/a>) failed to feed, lock in, lock back on an empty magazine, or eject when requested. The gun ran perfectly. I even ran it with a home rolled 185gr flat point that chokes just about every 1911 I own, save a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.avantlink.com\/click.php?tt=cl&amp;merchant_id=83c7c186-fb5f-42ca-a1a4-8e6e1a99ac2e&amp;website_id=4e8a62e5-c9f2-4169-947d-06856fc118da&amp;url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.sportsmans.com%2Fshooting-gear-gun-supplies%2Fhandguns%2Fbrand%2Fc%2Fcat-kimber-handguns-pistols%3Fpage%3D2%26msclkid%3D30be00881d3b1b729f856481ee7b5042%26utm_source%3Dbing%26utm_medium%3Dcpc%26utm_campaign%3DBing%2520-%2520DSA%2520-%2520Category%2520Pages%26utm_term%3Dsportsmans%26utm_content%3DAll%2520Pages\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kimber Ultra Covert ii<\/a> (of all things). So now there\u2019s a total of two guns that will run that bullet. The Mobius came well-lubed so I never lubed it again or cleaned it once during the entire review, until it was time to take photos.<\/p>\n<p>Sometimes with 1911s we trade precision for reliability. With a 2.5 MOA dot, no center-to-center group I shot was larger than 1.3\u2033 (Remington UMC). Barely sub 1\u2033 groups were more common with any higher quality <a href=\"https:\/\/www.avantlink.com\/click.php?tt=cl&amp;merchant_id=366d8fa6-2a72-4d59-bc31-583f74cfd91b&amp;website_id=4e8a62e5-c9f2-4169-947d-06856fc118da&amp;url=https%3A%2F%2Fpalmettostatearmory.com%2F45-acp-ammo.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ammunition<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A great all-around load, a 230gr FMJ over 6.5gr of Unique, printed extremely consistent .9\u2033 groups. I think if I had asked for a thin fiber optic front sight, I could have shrunk those groups down even more. They offer the gun in 9mm or .45 ACP, but I was glad I asked for the original chambering. It was a joy to shoot. The touted quality of the fitment is real. That precise fit might be apparent when you look at the gun, but it\u2019s glaringly obvious when you shoot it.<\/p>\n<p>The gun draws fast and points fast. Magazine changes happen almost by instinct. The Mobius\u2019s slide absolutely glides on its rails.
