There aren\u2019t many types of pistols that I enjoy shooting more than a 9mm 1911. They\u2019re smooth and flat and fast no matter what. But the DWX takes this to a whole \u2018nother level.<\/p>\n
Without stuff like porting or large thumb rests or other \u201crace gun\u201d tricks, this thoroughbred is ready to rock on a competition course. Holy crap does it shoot fast and flat. Keeping track of the fiber optic front sight through the entire recoil cycle is easy as pie.<\/p>\n
Given those world renowned grip ergos, sticky 25 LPI checkering, and sharp sights, I found the DWX very easy to shoot accurately and quickly. A jewel of a crisp, very lightweight trigger definitely doesn\u2019t hurt. Everything about this gun feels hand-tuned.<\/p>\n
The DWX holds 19 rounds in its standard-length magazines, which are the same mags as CZ uses in the P-10F and P-09. This is great news, as these magazines are both reliable and inexpensive. Some of the least expensive factory mags on the market, actually (about $30). Plus extended baseplates are available that bump capacity to 24 rounds.<\/p>\n
While this isn\u2019t a full review, as I\u2019ve only put a handful of magazines through the DWX so far, I now have one at home and when I get 500 rounds through it I\u2019ll write a follow-up.<\/p>\n
As I type here today, though, the Dan Wesson DWX is easily one of my favorite pistols ever. This thing\u2019s a gem.<\/p>\n
MSRP:<\/strong> $2,099 (under $2k ). . . and given the DWX\u2019s competition either in the high-end 1911\/2011 category or guns like the CZ Tactical Sports Orange or TS2, etc., it\u2019s a screaming deal.<\/p>\n\n<\/blockquote>\n\n
