{"id":3443,"date":"2025-05-01T13:27:06","date_gmt":"2025-05-01T13:27:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gunowner-news.com\/?p=3443"},"modified":"2025-05-01T13:27:06","modified_gmt":"2025-05-01T13:27:06","slug":"tesla-chair-denies-that-board-sought-to-replace-elon-musk","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gunowner-news.com\/?p=3443","title":{"rendered":"Tesla Chair Denies That Board Sought to Replace Elon Musk"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div data-testid=\"companionColumn-0\">\n<div class=\"css-53u6y8\">\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">The chair of Tesla\u2019s board of directors denied a report that the company had begun to look for a replacement for Elon Musk, the chief executive who has been spending much of his time working for President Trump while the automaker\u2019s sales and profits plummet.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Robyn Denholm, who has led the board for more than six years, said on X that the report in The Wall Street Journal was \u201cabsolutely false.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">\u201cThe CEO of Tesla is Elon Musk and the board is highly confident in his ability to continue executing on the exciting growth plan ahead,\u201d Ms. Denholm said on Tesla\u2019s account on X, the social media firm owned by Mr. Musk.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">The Journal <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/business\/autos\/tesla-musk-ceo-search-board-0ce61af9?mod=hp_lead_pos1\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">reported late Wednesday<\/a> that, about a month ago, the Tesla board had contacted executive search firms to help look for Mr. Musk\u2019s replacement, citing \u201cpeople familiar with the matter.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<aside class=\"css-ew4tgv\" aria-label=\"companion column\"\/><\/div>\n<div data-testid=\"companionColumn-1\">\n<div class=\"css-53u6y8\">\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">After the company reported a 71 percent drop in quarterly profit last week, Mr. Musk promised to <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2025\/04\/22\/business\/tesla-earnings-elon-musk.html\" title=\"\">spend more time at Tesla<\/a> and less time in Washington. He said that he would spend one or two days a week on administration work.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Mr. Musk\u2019s absence from Tesla while he oversaw Mr. Trump\u2019s efforts to slash government spending and cut federal government jobs has become a sore point with investors. Mr. Musk\u2019s involvement with the administration and with right-wing causes in Europe has prompted protests at Tesla dealerships and is partly responsible for a steep drop in sales. Electric vehicle buyers tend to be liberals or centrists.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Tesla\u2019s revenue fell 9 percent in the first quarter of the year, to $19.3 billion, the company reported last week.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">The automaker has lost market share in the United States, China and Europe as competitors like BYD, General Motors, Volkswagen and other companies introduce dozens of electric models. Analysts have faulted Tesla for failing to expand its lineup beyond two main cars.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">The Model Y sport utility vehicle and the Model 3 sedan account for a vast majority of Tesla\u2019s sales.
